First-Year Assessment Instrument Database

This database contains information about dozens of assessment instruments related to the first year of college. For each instrument, our database includes a summary (what the instrument does), pricing information, and contact information for the relevant company representatives.

The National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition offers this resource for reference only. The Center does not endorse any specific assessment instrument (whether included in this database or not). However, we encourage assessment as a valuable process for improvement and/or validation of first-year programs.

To search our first-year assessment instrument database, enter your search criteria in the fields below.  The “general search” searches the entire database for all records that match your search criteria.  For example, a general search for “learning” will find all instruments with the word “learning” anywhere in the instrument’s name or description.  You may limit your search by entering a specific instrument or assessment type. To view ALL records in our database, please leave all the fields empty and click the search button.

If you have any questions about the first-year assessment instrument database (or if you would like to add/update your instrument), please contact Rico R. Reed(romando@gwm.sc.edu).

**This database is an update to a similar listing of first-year instruments previously made available by the Policy Center on the First Year of College. The National Resource Center would especially like to thank Randy Swing for developing the typology of assessment instruments and for initiating this database. Randy serves as Co-Director of the Policy Center on the First Year of College and a Fellow of the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition.
